Privacy lovers are queuing up for a Swiss alternative.

While Android firmly holds the lead among mobile operating systems, leading smartphone manufacturers like Samsung are developing alternatives. A potential replacement for Android that focuses on protecting sensitive data and installs on out-of-the-box devices will soon be released. This is exactly the goal of the new Apostrophy OS (AphyOS) system.

Unlike classic Android with the Google Mobile Services package, AphyOS is based on the Android Open Source Project and is exempt from Google services that conduct background data collection. In return, the program offers functionality similar to Android, but giving users more control over their digital privacy.

To protect your privacy, AphyOS uses part of the GrapheneOS codebase. However, a developer company from Sweden, a country with some of the strictest privacy laws, wants to stand out from its peers. It promises to go beyond the standard GrapheneOS feature set, strictly adhering to the principles of network neutrality. All in order to establish itself as a reliable and transparent manufacturer.

So far, you won't be able to install AphyOS on your Android device on your own. This is a relatively young OS, and its creators expect to establish partnerships with well-known OEMs to pre-install the operating system on new smartphones and tablets for the global market. The first contracts have already been signed with some European partners.

The way to conclude large-scale partnership agreements, establish sales and supply of devices on a global scale for the Android successor OS will not be easy. However, Apostrophy OS sees a bright future for its brainchild. It remains only to follow the announcements and wait for the OS to begin to conquer new markets and model lines of gadgets.
