Under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office, a citizen was notified of suspicion on the fact of selling malicious software for mobile phones for the purpose of unauthorized interference in the operation of automated information systems (Part 2 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect created and administered a closed Telegram channel with almost a thousand subscribers. It offered to purchase or rent malicious software for unauthorized interference in the operation of information systems of mobile phones running on the Android operating system.
The malicious software tool provided the ability to gain real-time access to mobile device management, remote access to online banking applications, applications for storing and exchanging virtual assets, and tracking correspondence. It was also possible to record the sound of the environment around the device and telephone conversations, and determine the location of the infected device without the owner's knowledge.
Law enforcement officers conducted an authorized search on the territory of the city of Odessa, seized computer equipment and mobile phones with information confirming the fact of committing crimes.
Now a preventive measure has been chosen for the suspect.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine with operational support of employees of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kiev and the Kiev region.
