Pavel Durov and his brother Nikolai began joint development of an advanced version of the darknet, which will allow all users to fully protect their personal data from the authorities. Their version of the Internet will include all the necessary functions and capabilities, including remote payment services.

The Telegram messenger attracted a huge amount of attention after it was blocked in Russia, but this application is only a starting point in the plans of the Durov brothers. They intend to create their own version of the darknet and call it the Telegram Open Network (TON). Communication and file exchange will be carried out through the already familiar messenger, but new functions will be added. Users will be able to use various virtual wallets and even virtual payment services not only with VISA and MasterCard, but also with cryptocurrency. Also, a system of torrents and similar file sharing will be implemented in TON, which will only increase the popularity of this Network, provided that all users have a hidden IP address and even the developers themselves will not be able to find it out.

According to the expert opinion, there are two serious difficulties for the implementation of TON. The first is the need for users to send not only their data, but also to confirm them by providing passport photos and receipts for paying utility bills. This is necessary for the safety of personal funds, but not everyone will agree to provide their data on the Internet. Also, everything conceived for the anonymity of users and the storage of data on servers outside of Russia makes TON automatically banned on the territory of the state due to violation of the law.
