Black Basta has released secret documents of the company Willis Lease Finance.
The company Willis Lease Finance Corporation, engaged in leasing jet engines, was the victim of a cyber attack, during which confidential data was in the hands of the Black Basta group. This became known from a Form 8-K document filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on February 9. The company detected signs of unauthorized access on January 31 and immediately began to eliminate the consequences of the incident.
The document says that leading experts in the field of cybersecurity were involved to investigate the incident and neutralize it. Despite this, the company admitted that it had to develop temporary solutions to continue operating and serving customers due to the shutdown of some systems.
Details regarding the damage have not yet been disclosed, but the company has notified law enforcement agencies and continues to work to determine the extent of the data leak. The Black Basta group blamed for the attack claims to have managed to steal 910 GB of data, including personal data of employees, personnel management documents, non-disclosure agreements, as well as details of lease agreements with major airlines and 40 passport scans.
Black Basta posted on its leaked website samples of the documents mentioned, as well as various personnel documents that show the social security numbers of apparently employees of the company in various departments and positions. Representatives of Willis Lease Finance have not yet commented on the situation.
