The attacker was exposed by employees of the criminal investigation and investigation department together with the cyber police of the Volyn region under the procedural leadership of the Novovolynsky department of the Vladimir District Prosecutor's Office.
It is established that since 2022, the offender placed fictitious ads on the social network Facebook, regarding the collection of funds for the treatment of sick children and rehabilitation of wounded servicemen, as a result of which concerned citizens transferred more than 60 thousand hryvnias.
As part of the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the police conducted an authorized search at the place of residence of a 32-year-old resident of Novovolynsk, as a result of which they seized mobile phones from which the attacker carried out publications, as well as bank cards to which funds were credited and laptops.
When examining mobile phones, it was established that the attacker simultaneously used 21 accounts in the social application Facebook to raise funds.
Investigators informed him about suspicion of committing 100 crimes under Part 3 of Article 190 (Fraud). The Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect was given a preventive measure - detention.
In September, the investigators completed the pre-trial investigation in the specified proceedings and sent the indictment to the court.
The Novovolyn City Court of the Volyn region found the suspect guilty of committing the incriminated crimes and sentenced him to two years in prison, adding the partially unserved sentence under the previous sentence, and finally awarded him five years and four months in prison.
