Representatives of the online trading platform addressed the duty department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Sevastopol with a message about the lack of funds after the delivery of goods to customers.
Employees of the Department for combating cybercrime of the city police, as a result of operational search activities, detained an 18-year-old visiting young man involved in the crime.
It was previously established that the suspect often made purchases using a popular marketplace. When they arrived at the pick-up point again, they received their order, but due to a problem in the system, payment was not required. The buyer did not find out the reason for the failure, but decided to use this problem for illegal enrichment.
In ten days, he managed to order and steal about 40 products. The criminal prey of the swindler was four smartphones and accessories for them, three music speakers, two TVs, a laptop, three air guns, airsoft balls, clothing, perfumes and household chemicals, a gold ring, an electric scooter and other small goods.
The young man admitted his guilt in full and said that he kept some of the stolen goods for himself, and managed to resell the rest and give it to his friends.
A criminal case was opened against the detainee on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
