Three employees of the American fast food chain Hardee's in Michigan City (Indiana) stole debit and credit card details of customers. After that, they used them to buy clothes and pay bail in prison for their friends.

The leader of the group was 35-year-old Kristin Vanschoyck, who was assisted by 21-year-old Prince Arnold and 20-year-old Darrien Ward. During August and September 2023, Vanshoek photographed the cards of people who paid for food at Hardee's service for motorists. After that, she gave photos to accomplices who bought clothes on online resources, and also managed to transfer from $ 1,000 to $ 4,000 to the accounts of several prisoners in a local prison. The fact is that after their release, prisoners are allowed to use prison plastic at large.

Another alleged conspirator, whose name was not released, came to the prison and paid bail for the same prisoners in cash. He also took their prison cards. Thus, the prisoners were released as a reward for participating in the scheme, and its authors were able to launder money through the US prison system.

To get on the trail of the group from Hardee's was possible because of complaints from victims of fraud. After comparing their spending data prior to the loss of money, the police realized that they were all going to the same fast food joint.
