First in line were Xbox Cloud Streaming and GeForce Now.
Apple has announced significant changes to its App Store policies that open the door to game streaming services such as Xbox Cloud Streaming and GeForce Now. Previously, these services were available to iOS users only through a web browser. Now they will be able to offer full-fledged applications.
According to Apple, developers can now present a single application that can stream all the games from its catalog. The changes will be available to users all over the world.
In 2020, Apple created conditions for placing cloud gaming services in the App Store. However, in practice, each game had to be presented and considered as a separate application. So the move to be able to provide a single app with an extensive catalog of games is an important change.
Apple noted that every experience offered in an app on the App Store must comply with all App Store review policies, and the "parent" app must have an age rating corresponding to the highest rating of content included in the app.
In addition, developers will now be able to improve the search capabilities for streaming games, mini-apps, mini-games, chatbots, and plug-ins within their apps, which will be able to implement Apple's in – game purchase system-digital content or services, such as subscribing to a separate chatbot.
This decision is part of a series of changes to the App Store policy in connection with the investigation of the European Commission on antitrust regulation. Other announced changes include the ability to set your preferred default browser when you first launch Safari, including browsers running on third-party engines.
