A new data leak caused concern for the level of protection of the agency.

NATO says it is actively addressing the impact of an incident affecting Alliance websites after the SiegedSec hacking group claimed to have stolen numerous strategic planning and research documents from NATO.

It is noted that the content of the documents is not classified and is intended for official use only among NATO countries and countries that are members of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance. According to the hackers, among the stolen documents were materials on hypersonic weapons, drones and radioactive waste testing procedures.

Recent cyber incidents affecting NATO websites have raised concerns about the alliance's ability to secure its communications networks. NATO is taking serious steps to improve cybersecurity in response to such incidents.

A NATO official said that experts are actively working to solve problems related to incidents on some unclassified sites of the alliance, and introduced additional measures for cybersecurity. NATO also stressed that the incidents did not affect NATO missions and operations.

The SiegedSec group is known for its cyber attacks on government websites in five US states , including those related to the judicial system, social services and the police. Earlier, the SiegedSec group announced the theft of strategic documents from NATO and published them in Telegram

The motives behind SiegedSec are still unclear, but the incident is a reminder of the external and internal digital threats that Western states have been facing recently. The case also raises questions about the security of shared intelligence information among US allies following the arrest of an American soldier for publishing classified Pentagon and US intelligence documents.
