By the verdict of the Krasnokamsk City Court, a previously convicted 32-year-old resident of Tchaikovsky was found guilty of committing four crimes under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”.
During the investigation of a multi-episode criminal case against a 27-year-old Perm resident who worked for telephone scammers, the investigator carried out a number of investigative actions and examinations. Thanks to the study of the information received, another member of the criminal group of swindlers who defrauded pensioners under the “Your relative got into an accident” scheme was identified. In the summer of 2022, the Chaikovsky resident was released from prison, where he had served a sentence for more than 10 years, and needed a job, which he quickly found on the Internet.
In the criminal hierarchy, the man served as an “advertiser.” He was looking for people willing to act as courier for scammers, providing them with instructions and monitoring their actions. Thus, the attacker offered his friend, a Permian who had been previously convicted several times, to earn extra money. Having received consent, the person involved connected him with the curator, while monitoring his actions and helping to resolve current issues. The scammers called elderly people, introduced themselves as police officers or a relative and reported the news that it was allegedly their fault that a traffic accident had occurred in which there were victims and they needed money for treatment. Then they asked the victims for their address and sent a courier. Having taken the money, the Perm resident transferred it to the gunners’ accounts. At the same time, he kept a reward of 6%, 2 of which he transferred to the “advertiser.”
Four pensioners suffered at the hands of members of the criminal group. Three of them, residents of Krasnokamsk, handed over a total of more than 900 thousand rubles to the scammers. The swindlers stole another 150 thousand rubles from a pensioner from Perm.
During the investigation, the defendant was in custody. The court sentenced the perpetrator to 4 years in prison in a maximum security penal colony. He is also obliged to compensate material damage to the victims. The courier is already serving his sentence in a maximum security penal colony.
